CEFN DRUIDS have wasted little time in strengthening their playing squad by securing the signing of striker John Owen.
The 26-year-old has signed on the dotted line after deciding to leave rock-bottom Llandudno, and will come into contention for Druids' home clash with Barry Town United on Saturday.
Wales C international Owen, who has played for the likes of Bangor City and Aberystwyth Town, will compete with James Davies and Dean Rittenberg for a place in the Druids' attack.
Ancients boss Huw Griffiths was delighted to sign Owen, who he has been tracking for quite some time.
He said: "I'm chuffed to sign John. He's someone I've been after for a while and it's great to get the deal done so early in the window.
"I want to help John fall back in love with football and hopefully get the very best out of him, because he will certainly bring a little more quality to the squad.
"It's a huge statement for Cefn Druids to sign John Owen. As much as we aren't doing as well in the league last year, it shows how well we are progressing that we've been able to get him in.
"The likes of John and Dean would not have dreamed of signing for Cefn Druids two years ago, so we are growing on and off the pitch." Griffiths is looking to strengthen his playing options further between now and the end of January with at least one deal possible before the weekend.
"I'm looking at signing players who give us different options to what we have already," added Griffiths.
