GIVING youngsters the chance to make their mark remains a key element of the role for Wrexham boss Steve Dale.

Dale, who saw his side lose out 4-1 to defending champions and leaders Cardiff City in their latest Adran Premier run-out, is keen to give up-and-coming players the chance to shine.

Reds’ U19s’ player Grace Morris was handed her first team bow off the bench against The New Saints last month.

Dale told the club’s YouTube channel: “Grace has been working hard in the background.

“Did a little bit with us in some of the pre-season games. I think her performances in the 19s and when she’s been training in and around the first team, done really well.

“So, really pleased to give another under-19 an opportunity to get some valuable experience and get some first team minutes under her belt.”

Morris wasn’t included in the squad as the Reds lost out during their trip to Cardiff.

The Bluebirds managed to build-up a three-goal advantage, but it was far from being one-way traffic and Wrexham created a number of opportunities.

After Ava Suckley pulled a goal back, Cardiff goalkeeper Ceryn Chamberlain denied her a second, while the custodian also saved from Carra Jones.

Liv Fuller went close to setting up a grandstand finish when she struck the woodwork.

Injuries continue to plague the Reds, with Lili Jones and Amber Lightfoot both being forced off on Sunday.

Abbie Iddenden missed the trip due to an injury she picked up versus The New Saints and Dale said: “She’ll be in good hands with the physio team here at Wrexham. So, hopefully it’s not as serious as what we thought, but you’re hoping she’ll be back in contention as quick as she can be.”

Wrexham will be able to switch their attention away from the league this weekend.

On Sunday, the Reds will be heading to Barry in the Adran Trophy.
