FC QUEEN’S PARK triumphed in the big Wrexham derby in the North East Wales Premier Cup.
Despite having Nicky Williams red carded after 26 minutes, goals from Ryan Jakovlevs and Sam Molyneux were enough to seal a 2-1 home win over Lex XI for Park. Jonny Taylor replied.
Park, who also had manager Mal Wareham sent off, are joined in the semi-final draw by Mynydd Isa and Rhostyllen.
Rhostyllen romped home 5-0 at Hawarden Rangers where top scorer Tom Douglas (pictured below) bagged a double. He was joined on the scoresheet by Liam Sklenar, Jack Brindley and Sam Chesters.
Dylan Roberts hit Isa’s winning goal in a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Greenfield for whom Ethan Evans netted. Sam Wainwright, who had opened the scoring, was sent off in stoppage-time while Greenfield’s Connor Hughes was also red carded.
Two of the ties in the Mike Beech Memorial Trophy went the full distances with Rhos Aelwyd Reserves and Corwen Reserves both hold their nerve in shoot-out victories.
After a goal-less draw with neighbours Johnstown Reserves, Arron Thomas converted Rhos’ winning spot-kick while Corwen triumphed 3-1 on penalties after their tie at Penycae Reserves ended 2-2. Tommy Hallam and Josh Hughes scored for Penycae with Ben Davies and Lewis Wills replying for Corwen.
Sam Colley bagged the only goal of the game as Lex Reserves returned from Saltney Town Reserves with a 1-0 win while Llangollen Town Reserves and Brickfield Rangers Reserves both celebrated 2-0 wins.
Louis Dennis and substitute Whalen Mwabe were Llan’s scorers against 10-men Brymbo Reserves while Jake Barlow bagged both for Brickfield in a 2-0 win at Greenfield Reserves.
Despite having Sam Fairclough sent off, Connah’s Quay Town Reserves eased through into the quarter-finals with a 5-1 victory at Castell Alun Reserves.
Dylan Williams, Liam Wild, Liam Wellings, Callum Woods and Scott Gibbons got the goals.Teddy Edwards replied for Alun, who had Jamie Connah sent off.
Also booking a place in the last-eight draw were FC Queen’s Park Reserves after their 4-2 success at Coedpoeth United Reserves.
Luke Armstrong (2), Liam Lawrence and Daniel Roberts got the goals with Josh Partington and Ross Hardy-Partington replying.
Cymru Premier League Aberystwyth Town booked their spot in the Welsh League Cup final following a 4-1 penalty shootout win over Cardiff City U21s.
The last-four clash at Park Avenue finished up one-apiece, with Niall Flint’s penalty giving Aber the lead five minutes before the break. Troy Perrett levelled for the Bluebirds in the last minute.
