CALUM MCINTYRE felt his Chester side had the opportunities to return from their National League North trip to Warrington Town with a three-point haul.

As it finished up, the Blues had to be satisfied with a point from a 1-1 draw, with the visitors hitting back through Harrison Burke (pictured) late on.

Boss McIntyre told Chester FC TV: “This league’s tough on the road and you are never distraught with a point, but I think we should be frustrated with ourselves given that I think we’ve had enough opportunities to win the game and I think we’ve conceded a moment that’s led to a penalty that is not in line with what we did for the vast majority of the game around how we defended.

“So, frustration at that. Pleased with the performance in the main, but I thought we went away from what served us really well in the first half for a 20, 25-minute spell.”

Warrington claimed the lead with just 17 minutes left as Connor Woods netted from the spot following Kevin Roberts’ foul on Elliott Morris. A red card for Josh Amis left Warrington with 10 men and Chester equalised when Declan Weeks’ free kick was headed in by Burke.

McIntyre added: “What I am really pleased about is when you’re in a losing position with 20 minutes to go, it is a point not necessarily gained, but a point rescued. So, really pleased with the endeavour and the character and the personality of the players, because too many times on the road, we’ve conceded one and then two this season.”
