WHAT a dramatic weekend is in the offing towards the foot of the Division One North standings.
Four of the five lowest ranked clubs do battle in a pair of blockbuster encounters, which could well go a long way to deciding who beats the dreaded drop this season.
Ruthin and Mold - the two clubs occupying spots in the relegation zone - do battle in a pivotal encounter at Cae Ddol tomorrow.
A 15-10 defeat away to Wrexham a fortnight ago saw Ruthin stumble to the bottom of the table and Mold crept into the bottom-two on the back of their 23-3 reverse at home to Llandudno.
From Wrexham’s perspective, it is also a mammoth weekend as they make the lengthy trek to take on Llangefni.
Both clubs occupy spots just outside the relegation zone, with Wrexham level on points with Mold, while Llangefni are four points better off.
Wrexham will go into the contest with some confidence, though, following the result versus Ruthin, which was only their second triumph of the campaign.
Tries from Jacob Hughes and skipper Jack Harrison helped to confirm the outcome.
Harrison said: “The result against Ruthin was well needed. It was a scrappy game and I feel we perhaps should’ve been out of sight.
“We have to start learning to take our chances, we were held up three times and it’s happened regularly this season.
“Saturday will be a really tough game. Llangefni are always a tough side to play against, with a big physical pack and we’re expecting no different this weekend.
“The week off has probably just stemmed our momentum a little bit, but we need to make sure we get back in this week and back it up this weekend.
“We’ve got a crucial few games coming up starting on Saturday, so we need to head over there ready for a tough game and willing to do whatever it takes to get the win.”
Denbigh, who are also on the same amount of points as Mold, face a tough task away to third-placed Pwllheli, while COBRA can look forward to having home advantage against Caernarfon, who are second.
Leaders Nant Conwy face a trip to Maes Gwyniad as they come up against Bala, and the remaining match sees Llandudno hosting mid-table rivals Bethesda.
It’s top versus bottom in Division Two North action.
Leaders Welshpool will be favourites to gather their seventh success of the season as they host Caernarfon Athletic.
Second-placed Nant Conwy Athletic welcome Dolgellau, Colwyn Bay, who are third, go to Machynlleth and Rhyl & District have home advantage versus Newtown.
There’s a huge clash to look forward to at the top of Division Three North East.
Second-placed Wrexham Athletic pay a visit to front-runners Llanidloes, who can boast a magnificent seven wins from seven matches so far this season.
Mold Athletic, in fourth, go to Denbigh Athletic, while there are home matches for Flint and Rhosllanerchrugog, against Bro Gwernant and Ruthin Athletic respectively.
While they are in fine form at home, RGC are gunning for their first away triumph of the season tomorrow.
In Super Rugby Cymru action, RGC pay a visit to Aberavon while leaders Cardiff host Pontypool.
Other fixtures: Llandovery v Bridgend; Newport v Carmarthen Quins; Swansea v Ebbw Vale.
