BRICKFIELD RANGERS boss Gareth Wilson insists the race for the Ardal North East League title is an intriguing one and that any one of 10 teams could still win it!
Dolgellau’s six-game winning run has lifted them to pole position but Brickfield are just five points behind in fifth place and have two games in hand on the leaders.
Rangers, who have switched to the North East League from the North West division this season, head to Llanfair United looking for their new strikeforce of Haci Ozlu (pictured right) and Andy Vale to fire them to victory.
“It’s been a brilliant four months in a very competitive league,” said Wilson, who has seen new signing Ozlu score four in two games since his switch from Gresford Athletic.
“At least 10 teams can win the title which shows the strength of the league.”
Cefn Albion could do their’s and Brickfield’s title chances the world of good by beating leaders Dolgellau at home.
“Dolgellau have had a great season so far,” said Cefn boss Ian Andrews, whose side are only seven points off top spot and have a game in hand.
“They have a good group of players and to win six games on the spin in this league is a great achievement.
“We will be aiming to keep our run going. We’ve trained well and players are looking sharp and have got that competitive look in their eyes.”
Edgar Lima and Tom Smith miss out through suspension but Conner Kendrick, Callum Mannion and Josh Millington all return while reserves Kos Jones and Cain Williams are pushing to be in the matchday squad.
Llangollen Town head to Llansantffraid with boss Luke Maybury calling for an action replay of last month’s 6-0 win against the mid-Walians.
“We played Llansantffraid a few weeks ago and put in probably our performance of the season,” said Maybury.
“We need to be bang at it between now and Christmas to work our way back into the top four.”
Bow Street, in second place, head to Llanidloes Town while Chirk AAA tackle third-placed Kerry at home.
Sixth-placed Penycae make the trip to Builth Wells and neighbours Rhos Aelwyd head in the same direction to play Llandrindod Wells.
“It’s not an easy place to go and we know we’re going to have to dig deep and be resolute if we are to take any points,” said Rhos boss Gareth Jones. “I’ve got a good young side travelling down to Llandrindod.”
Llanuwchllyn’s cup exploits - they have reached the last-16 of both the Welsh Cup and Welsh Trophy this season - means tomorrow’s trip to Radnor Valley is only their 10th league game of the campaign.
In the North West League, Connah’s Quay Town will be looking to bounce back at home to Holyhead Hotspur.
“Hopefully the pitch dries out and we get back into action,” said Town boss Gavin Parry (pictured left).
“We have a strong squad available; one or two missing due to work but that’s not unusual.
“We need to get back to winning ways quickly and playing a team such as Holyhead may well just give the lads the kick up the backside that’s needed to get them going again.”
The action kicks off tonight with in-form Corwen at home to fourth-placed NFA.
Corwen haven’t lost for eight games with that defeat coming at NFA on October 5.
Leaders Porthmadog, who are five points clear at the top, are also in action tonight at second-placed Llangefni Town.
Tomorrow’s other fixtures: Llannefydd v Menai Bridge Tigers; Pwllheli v Llanrwst Utd; Rhyl 1879 v Y Felinheli; Nantlle Vale v St Asaph City; Trearddur Bay v Conwy Boro.
