GEORGE DOBSON has stressed the importance of continuing to make The Racecourse a fortress in pursuit of success and the midfielder believes an improvement in the away form could leave Wrexham "there or thereabouts" at the end of the season.
Phil Parkinson's men registered a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Lincoln City at their north Wales stadium on Tuesday night and the Reds boast the best home record in League One with eight wins and a draw from nine games.
Wrexham, who sit second in the table and are four points behind leaders Wycombe Wanderers, have been less impressive away from home so Dobson is looking for the Reds' to pick up on their travels without letting standards slip on their own patch.
"It was really hard fought against Lincoln," said Dobson. "We knew it was going to be a tough game.
"They're a real hard working, competitive team and we knew it was going to be a game with not many chances.
"We said at half-time it's going be a one-nil game, so let's make sure it ours!
"It was a great win and to back-up Saturday's win is massive because our home form has been strong and it is important to keep it going.
"We've had nine games at home and obviously to only draw one and win the rest is a good, strong effort from everyone.
"We've just got to keep using the support and the momentum we've got to hopefully keep winning these games at home.
"We know we can be a little bit better away from home, probably be a little bit more aggressive away from home, so if we can just improve that a little bit and keep the home form going then we'll be there or thereabouts."
James McClean's low shot was turned into his own net by Lincoln defender Tendayi Darikwa in the 67th-minute to settle the contest.
Wrexham held firm at the back and Dobson says having the best defensive record - the Reds have only conceded 11 goals in 17 outings - is no mean feat.
"We have now had 10 clean sheets in 17 games and we've conceded the least amount of goals in the league," said Dobson, who has started every league game since joining Wrexham in the summer after leaving Charlton Athletic.
"We back ourselves as a group to be able to keep the ball out of the net and we've got that real togetherness as a group.
"We know we've got players in the team that have got quality and are able to create and make things happen so I am delighted that we won."
Wrexham have picked up 34 points from their 17 matches and Dobson added: "We're obviously at that two points a game mark at the moment and we've just got to keep going.
"It's 17 games in now and a long way to go but we're in a good place."
