DANNY DAVIES is looking forward to a “massive game” as The New Saints continue their Conference League campaign this evening.
With one win from their first three group phase matches, the Saints are all set to welcome Swedish side Djurgardens to Shrewsbury Town’s Croud Meadow.
Former Connah’ Quay Nomads’ wing-back Davies, who grabbed one of the goals in the Saints’ comeback 3-2 league success over Cymru Premier League leaders Penybont last weekend, told the club’s X site: “We’ve been focusing all our focus on each game that’s coming.
“You know, this game’s out of the way now, so Thursday, looking forward to it.
“It’s going to be a massive game, big crowd hopefully and hopefully we can pick up a good result there.”
With half of the league phase completed, the Saints sit in 24th place and should they finish there, Craig Harrison’s side will make it through to the knockout stage.
However, a tough test is in store against a Djurgardens’ outfit that is 16th, with four points from their three matches.
Harrison will leave no stone unturned ahead of the match-up and he said: “It’s another opportunity.
“Can we maybe pick a positive result up and can we get a point or three?” said the Saints boss after Saturday’s comeback win over Penybont.
“It’s a real tough challenge, because they’re a very, very good team. To finish fourth in the Swedish top league, then it’s a real challenge for us.
“We know how good they’re going to be. We’ve done a lot of due diligence on them.
“We’ve been out there and watched them live on numerous occasions.
“We’ve had a good look at every possible game we could have and we’ve done all we can, and it’s a great way to go into the game off the back of that performance.”
Chelsea are also in action tonight at Heidenheim, Hearts go to Cercle Brugge and Shamrock Rovers visit Rapid Vienna.
