WREXHAM-BORN Seren Smale’s brilliant 2024 has just got even better.
The Lancashire wicketkeeper-batter has been called up to England Women’s IT20 and Test squads touring South Africa.
Smale joins up with the IT20 group today following the withdrawal of Bess Heath who suffered a fractured thumb.
The 19-year-old made her international debut against Ireland during the IT20 series in September.
Smale plays her club cricket for North Wales League Buckley and she has been with Lancashire since 2021.
Internationally, Smale was selected to represent England at the 2023 ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup.
At the tournament, she scored 121 runs at an average of 30.25, with her displays including a player of the match performance against Pakistan.
Smale went on to make her senior England debut against Ireland in a T20 international in Dublin in mid-September.
She plays for North West Thunder in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and the Charlotte Edwards Cup.
During the summer, she scored five half-centuries.
