WREXHAM got back to winning ways with a brilliant performance against Exeter City but head groundsman Paul Chaloner was Phil Parkinson's man of the match.
Goals from Max Cleworth, Ollie Palmer and Ollie Rathbone secured a 3-0 victory at The Racecourse as the Reds climbed up to second place in League One.
Preparations in the build-up to the game were affected by snowfall in the area and heavy rain on the day of the game meant conditions were far from ideal.
But Parkinson praised Chaloner and his groundstaff for the immaculate condition of the pitch as Wrexham bounced back in style from the 1-0 defeat at Stockport the previous weekend.
"It has been a disrupted week but you have got to make the most of the facilities which are at your disposal and I feel as a staff we did that well," said the Reds' boss. "Credit to everybody.
"Man of the match today was Chal the groundsman for me.
"The pitch, the rain we've had, the snow which was on the pitch and to get it in that good condition, enormous credit for Chal and his team because they did put it in and that doesn't just happen.
"He's been working tirelessly to get that right and we've got a lot of thanks for Chal and his staff today."
Chaloner and his team got the praise they deserved from Parkinson while Wrexham produced a fantastic performance from start to finish against Exeter who had the best defensive record in the division ahead of the trip to north Wales.
“I am very pleased. It was a really strong performance from us," added Parkinson.
“Exeter are a difficult team to break down, only conceding 10 goals this season, and I thought we played some great football.
"We got the control we looked for in the game with Matty James and Ollie Rathbone in the middle of the pitch and Elliott Lee, changing his position, just give us a different dynamic.
"All in all, it's great to get back to winning ways."
n Wrexham will face League Two outfit Crewe Alexandra at The Racecourse in the EFL Trophy round of 32.
The second round ties are scheduled to be played in the week commencing Monday December 9.
