VISITING teams were the shining lights when it came to league one action in the North East Wales U16s’ section.
All three matches resulted in away wins, with leaders Holywell Town getting the better of Connah’s Quay Town 3-1. Holywell netted all four goals, with Quay’s response being an own goal, while Joey Robinson, Jacob Duffy and Louie Doleman netted at the right end.
Second-placed Aston Park Rangers lost out 4-2 versus Mold Alex, who had Charlie Rush (3) and Gus Jarvis-Macgregor on the mark. Samuel Kendrick and Lennon Young hit back for Rangers.
Benjamin Jellicoe and Guto Edwards struck for Ruthin Town in their 3-2 loss to Borras Park Rangers, who won it via Keanu Williams (2) and Jacob Edwards.
Llay United moved to within five points of league two front-runners Rhos Aelwyd courtesy of their thrilling 6-4 success at Chirk. Harri Thomas (2), Morgan Jones, Owen Jones, Owen Parcesepe and an own goal made sure of Llay’s fifth win of the season, as Cameron McKay, Ashton Shanley, Gwilym Jones and Wyatt Williams kept Chirk interested.
It was even closer as third-placed Brickfield Rangers pipped Lex 6-5. Alex Roberts’ four-goal effort proved vital to the outcome and he was joined on the scoresheet by Daniel Rose-Nichol and CJ Ashton Richardson. Harry Richard Ankers (3) and Rudi Suckley (2) responded to make a real game of it.
Elsewhere, Ethan Hogan bagged a hat-trick in Rhydymwyn’s 6-1 triumph against Mynydd Isa, who replied through Max Robinson. Ryan Garrett (2) and Oliver Lewis were Rhydymwyn’s other scorers.
In the big match in league three, leaders Hope Dragons and second-placed Buckley Town played out a 3-3 draw.
Jaheim Munetsi, Hasan Anwar and Owen Lloyd Evans handed the Dragons Hope, however Evan Mitchell, Alex Ramson and Dylan Whittam ensured there would be a share of the spoils.
Broughton United, in third, were 3-1 victors versus Marchwiel thanks to Mason Williams, Cai Price and Osian Luc Lee. Alby Jones had handed Marchwiel the lead.
Coedpoeth United prevailed in thrilling fashion 6-4 at Penycae, whose goals came from Tom Hayward (2), George Nash and Dylan Power. Efforts from Eddie Somerville-Cox (2), Joshua Rimmer (2), Jacob Dunn and Nathaniel Tyzack won it.
Jacob Dobson, Zak Kevan and Daniel Pearson made sure of a 3-2 triumph for Deeside Dragons Fire against FC Queen’s Park, who replied via Brendan Pemberton and Callum Higginbottom.
Another thriller ended up 4-3 in favour of Holywell Town against Brymbo Lodge. Finlay Rooke-Hart (2), Matteo Iavazzo and Dylan Griffiths-Jones led Holywell over the line, with Rhys Golby (2) and Alan Szatkowski keeping Lodge interested.
