MYNYDD ISA couldn’t have timed it better to head to the top of the North East Wales League’s Premier Division.

Isa romped home 9-0 against rock-bottom Ruabon Rovers last weekend on the same day title rivals Lex XI were left shell-shocked after a 4-1 home defeat to Castell Alun.

Lex, who have now dropped to third place, head to Mynydd Isa a point behind and boss Ricky Evans, who handed a start to new signing Matthew Worrall a week ago, will be demanding a response from his team.

A home win for third-placed Coedpoeth United against Hawarden Rangers will keep their title hopes alive while three points for FC Queen’s Park against visitors Saltney Town will also give them momentum at the halfway stage of the season.

Rhostyllen will fancy their chances of another win at home to Gronant while Penyffordd Lions make the trip to winless Ruabon Rovers.

Brymbo will be going all out to leapfrog Championship leaders Broughton United as they host Yr Wyddgrug tomorrow.

If they win by three goals or more, Brymbo will take over at the top.

Bottom club Skippy entertain Deeside United, Cei Connah go to Aston Park Rangers while action kicks off under the lights at The Rock tonight where Cefn Druids host Bellevue.

Connah’s Quay Town are flying high in Group B of the Reserves Division ahead of a trip to Penyffordd Lions.

Second-placed Lex host Coedpoeth while Castell Alun, in third, welcome Queen’s Park.

Greenfield will also be looking to make home advantage count against Brymbo.
