LLAY WELFARE boss Jordan Scott is targeting Tranmere Rovers players in his bid to steer his side to safety.

“I am fortunate enough to work with these players in my day job being full time at Tranmere,” said Scott ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Guilsfield.

“We are looking at a couple of players from Tranmere who could potentially be in the pipeline from January

“Young keeper Harley Jones from the U17s will be signing to add to the keepers group. He’s been superb in training and I feel it can only add to his development and he will no doubt be a top keeper in the years ahead.

“January wise, I don’t think that there will be any wholesale changes to the squad, like any manager, you want to keep hold of your best players and add quality where you need to.”

Three points tomorrow is Scott’s main priority after they pushed Colwyn Bay close in their last encounter.

“Although Guilsfield’s results have been hit and miss, we know it will be a really tough place to go.

“We have made a few tactical and technical tweaks to our game which we have worked on in training which hopefully will come to fruition.

“Against Colwyn Bay, Owen Payne played in a back two with Morgan Sadler, who were both outstanding, with Tyrese Cains playing at left back. Ty has had limited game time but there’s definitely a player there, if he can get back to the form he showed with us at Ruthin last year, there’s a really good talent there for us.

“Ethan Simpson has been chomping at the bit to be playing and showed his quality again when he came off the bench and Jon Collo, up front, had a really tough job as the lone striker (and) took his goal well.”

Barry Owen says Mold’s Welsh Cup win over top flight Briton Ferry Llansawel will count for little if his Alex side loses out at Prestatyn Town tomorrow.

Mold stunned their Cymru Premier League visitors with a 2-1 success in the cup last time out, but the focus has switched to Prestatyn, with ex-Rhyl boss Gareth Thomas now at the helm.

“It will be a tough game,” stressed Owen.

“We know what to expect and that was part of the post-match.

“If we go to Prestatyn and lose, people will think this result is a fluke.”

Emmanuel Lawal doubled Mold’s lead against Briton Ferry Llansawel, after Owen Cordiner’s stunning individual strike had broken the deadlock for Alex.

“That’s been coming,” said Owen about Cordiner’s goal.

“Arguably, he should be up there as one of the signings of the season.”

Flint Mountain will look to continue their promising debut season in tier two with an away day tomorrow.

Aden Shannon’s side, currently sixth in the table, head to Penrhyncoch.
