THREE points from the mid-Wales trip to Llandrindod Wells could push Cefn Albion up into the North East League’s top five.

Unbeaten in five league games, Albion boss Ian Andrews has praised his side, who beat Penycae 3-1 last Saturday.

“Confidence is high,” said Andrews. “Saturday wasn’t our best performance, but our experience and ability to dig in and give 100 per cent effort saw us through the game.

“Penycae worked hard but our defence held out in the second half and Alex Williams got the all important third goal.”

Red cards for Tom Smith and Edgar Lima were the only blemishes for Albion.

“Tyler Wilkinson and Leighton Kendrick made good contributions from the bench last week and will be pushing for a recall.”

Penycae will aim to bounce as they are involved in another derby at home to Chirk AAA.

Despite picking up just one win in their last eight games, Penycae are still sixth in the table and just seven points behind leaders Dolgellau.

Chirk’s top scorer Tom Freeman, Toby Nash and Niall Freeman are all out.

There will be a debut for young goalkeeper Jake Nicholls, who has arrived from Nantwich Town youth.

Rhos Aelwyd hit the road with a trip to Llanfair United while Connah’s Quay Town will be grateful for the home comforts of The Deeside Stadium tomorrow.

Back-to-back defeats have seen Gavin Parry’s team drop from second to fifth place in the North West League.

But a win at home to Llangefni Town, who have now moved up to second spot, would put them just five points behind leaders Porthmadog.

Third-placed Rhyl 1879 host Pwllheli while Holyhead Hotspur go to St Asaph City.

Rock-bottom Menai Bridge Tigers are yet to win a game ahead of a trip to Conwy Borough - the team immediately above them.

There are two games in the North East Wales Veterans’ Premier Division on Sunday.

Victory for either Hawarden Rangers or Denbigh Town in their top three clash will secure top spot.

FC Queen’s Park host Rhydymwyn while Championship leaders Penyffordd are in action at Gresford Colliery.
