OF the 16 clubs remaining in the Welsh Cup, just four of them are Cymru Premier League outfits.

One of the quartet is holders Connah’s Quay Nomads, who came through their test away to Cymru South Trefelin with a 2-1 success.

The Bens - Nash and Maher - confirmed the triumph for Billy Paynter’s side.

Nash (pictured below) marked his 100th competitive appearance for Quay when he managed to open the scoring.

He headed in from a Rhys Hughes corner to make it 1-0.

Crucially, Maher then doubled the advantage early in the second half courtesy of a deflected effort.

Both teams were reduced to 10 men when Nash and home captain Connor Goldsworthy were sent off following an off-the-ball incident.

In stoppage time, a foul on former Wrexham and Swansea striker Lee Trundle resulted in the awarding of a penalty, which was converted by Joe Clarke.

Also still flying the flag for Flintshire are Cymru North leaders Airbus, who eased to a 7-1 success at home to Ardal South East League Goytre.

Three goals in the final quarter-of-an-hour in the first half saw the Wingmakers take flight.

George Peers headed in from Tom Dougherty’s centre for the opener, while Oli Lanceley’s double, the second from the penalty spot, stretched the lead.

Goytre pulled one back with Lewis Iles’ penalty, but that was to be the solitary bright spot for the visitors.

Lanceley completed his hat-trick on 72 minutes and this was followed by a fine free kick from Jordan Evans, plus strikes by Sam Baker and Peers.

The New Saints confirmed their progress with a 3-1 outcome from their trip to Cardiff Met. Ryan Brobbel and Jordan Williams (2) sealed the deal after Thomas Vincent had given Met the lead.

Llanuwchllyn’s fantastic cup form continued as they taught Swansea University a lesson.

The Ardal North East League side, who are also through to the latter stages of the Welsh Trophy, eased to a 3-0 win.

All the strikes came in the second half with Sam Evans, top scorer Meilir Williams and Tomos Evans getting the goals.
