WREXHAM were second best and suffered a 1-0 defeat in League One against Stockport County at Edgeley Park.

Goalkeeper Callum Burton kept the Reds in the game with a string of fine saves but Phil Parkinson's side were outplayed for large parts and created very little in the final third.

Here's how the players rated.

CALLUM BURTON: Outstanding on his league debut and pulled off a string of fine saves. Stockport would have won by more but for Burton. 9

MAX CLEWORTH: It was tough going for Wrexham's defence as Stockport created a host of chances throughout the game. 5

DAN SCARR: Made one vital block in the first half but was taken off when Parkinson made a triple change, 5

TOM O’CONNOR: Distribution not as good as usual and Stockport caused lots of problems when they attacked. 5

RYAN BARNETT: Came much more into the game in the second half and asked some questions of Stockport. 6

ANDY CANNON: Stockport won the midfield battles with Wrexham second best all game. 5

GEORGE DOBSON: Wrexham were outplayed for long periods and could have lost by more. 5

ELLIOT LEE: The Reds didn’t get a foothold in the game until the final 20 minutes but there was a lack of chances with Lee putting a header wide. 5

JAMES MCCLEAN: Put in one cross of real quality when Wrexham rallied and Lee’s header fell narrowly wide. 5

JON DADI BODVARSSON: Had one half-chance in the second half before he was taken off. 5

OLLIE PALMER: Nothing stuck up front but Wrexham’s strikers also lacked service. 5

SUBSTITUTES

OLLIE RATHBONE: Fresh legs in midfield and Wrexham finished strongly. 6

PAUL MULLIN: Put himself about and linked up play but Wrexham created little. 5

EOGHAN O’CONNELL: Did well when he came on with good distribution and steadied the ship. 6
