THINGS haven’t turned out too bad for Wrexham after missing out on the National League title to Stockport County!
The Reds were pipped to automatic promotion by the Hatters in 2021-22 and that first season for Phil Parkinson in The Racecourse hotseat ended with play-off heartbreak against Grimsby.
But success soon followed as Wrexham landed the National League crown following a record-breaking 2022-23 campaign before finishing runners-up in League Two last term to make it two promotions in a row for the first time in the club’s history.
Of course it was Stockport who clinched the title ahead of Wrexham and both teams have hit the ground running in League One this season.
I have enjoyed the rivalry with the Hatters in recent years although the 5-0 defeat at Edgeley Park last September was one of the low points in an otherwise memorable campaign.
There was revenge when Wrexham beat Stockport 2-1 on the final day of the season and hopefully the Reds have bragging rights tomorrow in what promises to be another cracker.
OUR PREDICTIONS:
STOCKPORT COUNTY 2 WREXHAM 1 NICK HARRISON
STOCKPORT COUNTY 1 WREXHAM 1 RICHARD WILLIAMS
STOCKPORT COUNTY 3 WREXHAM 1 SHAUN DAVIES
THE SCORES SO FAR... RICHARD WILLIAMS 13; NICK HARRISON 13; SHAUN DAVIES 12
