ONE quarter-final spot has been safely secured - and now Wrexham are aiming to make sure of another one.
Steve Dale’s Reds are through to the last-eight of the Adran Trophy and a spot in the quarter-finals of the Welsh Cup is up for grabs as Wrexham pay a visit to Adran North Y Felinheli on Sunday.
Wrexham are currently on a four-match winning sequence in all competitions, sparked by an 11-0 success at Llanystumdwy in the last round of the Welsh Cup.
Abbie Iddenden, Rosie Hughes and Brooke Cairns netted two apiece in that comfortable victory.
On the importance of the knockout competitions, manager Dale told the club’s YouTube channel: “It’s huge. I think, obviously, the earlier rounds are good for us to get minutes into players, but we’ve always had a main focus of getting through, making sure that we’re competitive and go as far as we can into the competition.
“I thought last year, obviously, was a great achievement to get to the Welsh Cup final.
“Probably deserved something out of that game, but it’s just spurred us on, really, to have a real look at it and... knuckle down and make sure that we’re going far into the competition to try and get some silverware this year, because we haven’t had the greatest start in the league.
“But, the cup’s sometimes a nice distraction.
“It allowed us to get a little bit of momentum and we’re on a nice little run now.
“It’s important that we continue to do that.”
Wrexham go into the tie on the back of a 4-1 Adran Trophy success at Cwmbran Celtic, secured by goals from Liv Fuller, Amber Lightfoot, Iddenden and Lili Jones.
Dale added: “It’s got to be exactly what it was (at Cwmbran). Making sure that we’re professional.
“Making sure that we turn up with the right attitude.
“You know, we’ve seen with the game (on Sunday) that if we’re not at it, teams will capitalise on that.
“It doesn’t matter what standard of tier they play in.
“Teams are going to have spells in games and it’s important that we try and take that away from them.
“You know, it’s a big occasion.
“It’s how we go there and manage that, and try and take the game away from them as early as we can.
“But, we’re hoping to go there full of confidence after the recent results and make sure that we’re through to the next round.”
