CALUM MCINTYRE is hoping that his Chester side will soon be able to take off.

The Blues, who have won two of their last three matches in National League North, are in FA Trophy action tomorrow with their trip to Northern Premier League Premier Division side Gainsborough Trinity.

Trinity have another big cup date this month and they will take on Harrogate Town - the conquerors of Wrexham - in the second round of the FA Cup.

While not yet firing on all cylinders, Chester boss McIntyre is hoping that will soon be the case.

He told Chester FC TV: “We really want to try and take off now. Where do we take off? It’s away from home.

“That needs to continue next week in the FA Trophy at Gainsborough.”

Chester go into the tie following on from a battling 1-0 league triumph away to Needham Market.

This latest three-point haul arrived courtesy of a late header from Harrison Burke and McIntyre has had praise for the goalscorer.

He added: “It’s just always brilliant when Burkey scores! It almost feels like one-and-a-half goals and he deserves that.”

Meanwhile, McIntyre has also praised the squad, which has come through a tough few weeks.

“I’m really, really pleased for the players that have dug in, dealt with a bit of pressure,” he said.

“But we need to start doing it away from home and start turning some good draws into wins. Some disappointing performances, defeats, into draws.”

Gainsborough boss Russ Wilcox has been full of praise for his players and he is calling on Trinity supporters to back the them tomorrow.

He told the club website: “They’re a credit to the football club. The fans need to really get behind us on Saturday.

“Give these lads everything you’ve got, because they’re giving everything for the football club and it’s a pleasure to work with this group.”
