SAM DALBY is in a rich vein of form form for Dundee United and manager Jim Goodwin is delighted with the contribution of his striker.

The 24-year-old, brought in on a season-long loan from Wrexham before the summer transfer window closed, found the back of the net in Saturday's 3-0 win over Ross County at Tannadice.

That was Dalby's fourth goal in five games for the Terrors who sit fourth in the Scottish Premiership.

No other player in Scotland's top-flight has scored more goals than Dalby, a back-to-back promotion winner with Phil Parkinson's Reds, in the last five matches.

United boss Jim Goodwin praised Dalby, who was named United’s Player of the Month for October, for his display in attack alongside Jort van der Sande.

The Irishman said: “Sam is in great form and it was real striker’s instinct from him to not give up on the ball over the top. And it was great composure to put it past Laidlaw.

“I was very pleased with him and Jort van der Sande. We told them at half-time to work closer together and we’d get the ball forward to them earlier.”
