ADRAN NORTH Flint made sure top flight Barry had to work hard to reach the quarter-finals of the Adran Trophy.
The Adran Premier side were twice behind in the second half, but they fought back to secure a thrilling 4-2 success. Barry were reduced to 10 women when Lauren Harris was sent off for a second bookable offence midway through the first half.
Nine minutes into the second half and Flint had the lead through Jennifer Haynes, with Zoe Stopford on hand with the assist.
However, Barry equalised with 25 minutes left as substitute Ellie Preece set up Murray.
This sparked a real goal-den spell, with Rosie Hughes regaining the lead for Flint. This was cancelled out within a couple of minutes by Murray.
Jasmine Turner then gave the hosts the lead for the first time with a quarter-of-an-hour to go, while Preece then added a fourth.
Wrexham progressed with a comfortable 4-1 success at Cwmbran Celtic.
The Reds enjoyed a fast start and they got their noses in front as early as the fourth minute through Liv Fuller.
Lili Jones supplied the assist and Fuller did the rest with her effort into the corner of the net.
However, 10 minutes later and Cwmbran Celtic were level through Jade Crofts.
Katie Sharp smashed an effort against the crossbar as the Reds went close to regaining the lead, while superb defending from the hosts denied Wrexham another goal late in the first half.
Wrexham made a promising opening to the second half and only a brilliant save from Amie Preston denied Carra Jones a goal two minutes after the restart.
The Reds were back in front with a terrific strike in the 52nd minute.
Amber Lightfoot did well down the left and proceeded to fire an effort into the top corner.
The Reds had some breathing space when they made it 3-1 in the 68th minute, with Abbie Iddenden scoring for the fourth game in a row. Lili Jones completed the scoring in stoppage time.
Brave Connah’s Quay Nomads lost out 2-1 at home to trophy holders Cardiff City.
Laura Curnock’s effort had Cardiff ahead at the break and Nieve Jenkins doubled the lead 10 minutes into the second half. Cardiff were down to 10 women with the dismissal of Jenkins with 20 minutes left and Anna Marsh pulled a goal back for Quay in stoppage time.
