IT’S as you were at the top of the standings, but things weren’t completely straight-forward for the leading duo.
Front-runners Airbus made sure of their sixth success in a row with a 4-0 verdict at Denbigh Town, but second-placed Colwyn Bay were forced to fight back as they eventually got the better of basement side Llay Welfare 2-1.
Two goals from former Airbus striker Craig Lindfield managed to settle matters for the Seagulls.
Llay had taken the lead when a ball over the top gave Jon Collo the opportunity to lob advancing goalkeeper Rhys Williams to give the home side an eighth minute lead.
Lindfield bagged a goal in each half, both of them coming from corners, as Bay recorded their 10th triumph in a row.
Seagulls boss Michael Wilde had praise for Llay after the final whistle.
He told the Bay YouTube channel: “Really, full credit to the opposition. They stuck at their task today as well and they were really good value for their performance today... and we’re just made up that we got the three points.”
Things were more comfortable for Airbus in their success at Denbigh, which keeps them four points clear at the top of the standings.
After George Peers had a goal chalked off for offside, Airbus did manage to grab the lead shortly before half-time through James Davies.
Oli Lanceley headed in the second goal after the interval, before two more strikes from Davies saw him complete a superb hat-trick.
Flint Mountain climbed into the top-six courtesy of their dramatic 1-0 triumph away to Caersws.
Just when it looked like a goalless draw was a certainty, Andy Brown’s header from Ryan Kershaw’s cross in the fourth minute of stoppage time won it for Aden Shannon’s side.
Buckley Town temporarily climbed into the top-three with their 2-0 Friday night success at struggling Prestatyn Town.
It was far from straight-forward for Asa Hamilton’s in-form charges, but a goal in each half did make sure of their eighth win of the campaign.
Danny Holland broke the deadlock from the penalty spot late in the first half and it was 2-0 midway through the second period when Adam Boydell set up Max Moore for the goal.
Hamilton told Buckley’s Facebook page: “Over their last two results... I think a couple of my boys thought they were going to come here and beat these seven, eight-nil, whatever.
“I knew that wasn’t going to be the case.”
