JORDAN PARRY is looking forward to a huge weekend for his Connah’s Quay Nomads’ side.
It doesn’t get any tougher than facing last season’s treble winners Cardiff City and this is who Adran North high-flyers Nomads will entertain in the Adran Trophy on Sunday.
While having a huge amount of respect for the Adran Premier League leaders, boss Parry wants his Connah’s Quay team to enjoy themselves against the best team in the country.
“I’m not scared of it,” he admitted. “I’m thoroughly looking forward to it.
“I want to challenge myself and put myself out of my comfort zone. I have full belief in my team.
“We have got the utmost respect for Iain (Darbyshire) and their team there. His team are fantastic, but so are my team.”
Captain Polly Wild-McGregor has led from the front since being handed the armband.
She has been a versatile figure so far this season, playing in numerous roles in midfield and attack. However, this has not stopped her from being clinical in front of goal, indeed she found the target as Quay continued their perfect start in Adran North with last weekend’s 4-0 win versus Rhyl 1879.
Meanwhile, Wild-McGregor believes the way she has been coached has been a crucial part of her current form and improvement throughout her young career so far.
She told the Adran League website: “I feel I have improved a lot since the beginning of pre-season, especially in attacking scenarios.
“I think being in this environment has also made me a more confident person, which is a great thing especially now that I am captain.
“Being told to be myself and to just enjoy my football is the best advice I am given week in, week out.”
It’s also a huge weekend for Flint Town United, who won three out of three in the group phase to reach the last-16.
Flint, 5-0 winners in the league against NFA last time out, face a trip to Adran Premier Barry.
Flint boss Oli Williams said: “This Sunday we head to Barry Town who are strong Adran Premier outfit, so it will be a great opportunity for our players to test themselves against a top team.”
Wrexham must become away day experts over the next few weeks.
The Reds, who don’t have a match at The Rock until mid-December, head to Adran South Cwmbran Celtic.
Manager Steve Dale told the club’s YouTube channel: “You always want to play at home, especially in front of a good crowd.
“It’s always a different challenge when you go away from home.
“But it’s key to get that momentum and keep performing, and getting the results that we feel that we deserve. And then, when we’re back here on the 15th, make sure that we obviously give back to the fans for coming out to support us.”
Adran North leaders Llandudno will be hoping to spring a surprise as they host top flight strugglers Aberystwyth Town, while Llanfair United are on their travels to Swansea City.
The New Saints, second in the Adran Premier, go to Caldicot Town.
Other ties: Cascade v Cardiff Met; Briton Ferry Llansawel v Penybont.
North East Wales League Betty Pickering Cup: Llanystumdwy v Kinmel Bay; Caernarfon v Denbigh; Amlwch v Henllan; Trearddur Bay v Berriew.
