ANOTHER crucial Division One North weekend is in the offing with the relegation picture in focus.

One win in their opening seven matches means Wrexham currently occupy a position in the bottom-two.

That could all change with a positive outcome from their trip to seventh-placed Llandudno, however Wrexham skipper Jack Harrison is taking nothing for granted.

He said: “Saturday is a big test away at Llandudno. They might not have had the start they wanted, but on their day their a seriously good rugby team that will give anyone a game.

“We have to keep trying to improve and learn from our mistakes.”

Wrexham go into this match-up on the back of their 34-17 defeat at home to third-placed Pwllheli. Tom Walker, Donnacha Fitzpatrick and Harrison grabbed the tries for Wrexham, who ended up just one score short of picking up a bonus point.

Harrison admitted: “We made things far too easy for Pwllheli, as we did against Caernarfon and Bala.

“We’ve got a young group that are eager, but just need to start gaining some smarts and experience about this league and what you need to do to succeed.”

Eighth-placed Mold have a five-point buffer over the relegation zone ahead of tomorrow’s testing trek west to Pwllheli.

The Chester Road side, who have triumphed just once so far this season, are demonstrating an ability to pick up bonus points from their matches.

This was demonstrated last time out as tries from Michael Roberts, Matthew Liversage, Richard Hopkins and Calum Say saw them pick up a point from a 38-22 loss at home to Bala.

The big match towards the foot of the standings sees Ruthin playing host to Llangefni.

Ruthin, two points ahead of Wrexham, sit just outside the relegation zone, while Llangefni are at the foot of the standings.

Leaders Nant Conwy and second-placed Caernarfon should feel confident of extending their unbeaten starts to the season.

Defending champions Nant, who are yet to drop a point so far this season, head to mid-table COBRA and Caernarfon welcome Denbigh.

Elsewhere, Bala have home advantage versus Bethesda.

Division Two North front-runners Welshpool will be seeking to make it six wins out of six for the campaign as they play host to mid-table Dolgellau.

Nant Conwy Athletic could climb into the top-two if they gain maximum points away to Rhyl & District, while basement side Caernarfon Athletic will seek a first point of the campaign away to Abergele in a battle of the bottom-two.

Machynlleth host Newtown in the other encounter.

It’s derby day in Division Three North East as Rhosllanerchrugog welcome Bro Gwernant.

Bro lost out 20-10 versus leaders Llanidloes in their last run-out, with man of the match Ethan Williams grabbing the try for the Llangollen-based side.

“At the final whistle, a lot of players were disappointed,” said Bro Gwernant manager Huw Evans.

“They had given everything on the pitch and just fell short at the end.

“We faced a very good team, but went toe-to-toe with them right to the final whistle.

“It’s a shame we narrowly missed out on a losing point which I think we deserved at the very least.

“We now need to look at positives from the game, work on a couple of things at training this week to be ready for our local derby away against Rhos this coming weekend.”

The match of the day sees third-placed Mold Athletic at Llanidloes, while Wrexham Athletic, in second, host Ruthin Athletic and COBRA Athletic visit Flint.
