GOALS win games and Phil Parkinson wants Wrexham to be more clinical in the final third against Mansfield Town at The Racecourse tomorrow in a bid to get back to winning ways.

His side created chances but the Reds' boss bemoaned a lack of quality in and around the penalty area in Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Harrogate Town in the FA Cup first round.

But even if there are less opportunities in a match, Parkinson knows taking one could be enough to win a match and keep Wrexham, currently third and just four points behind new leaders Wycombe Wanderers, flying high in League One.

"That clinical edge around the box wasn't there against Harrogate," he said.

"We have won a lot of games over the years where we have created a lot less chances than we did on Sunday.

"Goals determine the results of football games and it was very frustrating that we didn't take the moments which would have changed the course of the game.

"We know as a group we are better than that and we have got to work hard to be more clinical and precise when the moments come.

"Whether it was almost like a desperation thing in the second half in terms of the frustration creeping in because we couldn't get that goal but we weren't showing that air of calmness when the moments came, and we have got to look at that.

"The way the lads worked in terms of the general play was okay. It is just everybody had an off-day when it mattered most in and around the box."
