JON DADI BODVARSSON believes his experience of League One and challenging at the top end of the table will benefit Wrexham during his time at The Racecourse.
The striker, brought in on a short term contract until January with top scorer Jack Marriott facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after breaking a leg and Steven Fletcher also out of action with a knee injury, was without a club after leaving League One rivals Bolton Wanderers at the end of last season.
During his time at Bolton who he joined in January 2022, Bodvarsson helped Ian Evatt's side challenge for promotion to the Championship and he feels his understanding of the third tier will help the Reds who sit third in the table with 25 points from their opening 13 matches.
"Obviously I played for Bolton for two-and-a-half years in League One so I know what the league is about," said the 32-year-old frontman.
"The lower leagues in English football are always direct and physical, and every game is a battle.
"That is something I been used to and hopefully I can bring some experience with me knowing how it works.
"We are in a great position right now in the league. It is just focussing on being consistent every game.
"It is a tough league and it is a marathon, not a sprint, so there are loads of games left and far from finished."
Bodvarsson, who has won 64 international caps for Iceland and also played for Wolves, Reading and Millwall after arriving in England in 2016, made his Wrexham debut as a second half substitute in Sunday's 1-0 FA Cup first round defeat at League Two Harrogate.
He now hopes to play his part in the league for Wrexham who are back in action against Mansfield Town in Saturday's top of the table clash at The Racecourse.
"It was good to get my debut and get the feeling for everything," he added. "You have the best feeling when you are playing a proper game.
"English football is relentless with a lot of games so loads of minutes to come for everybody.
"It will be good for me to get minutes in the tank increasingly."
