LIAM DRISCOLL proved to be a key figure as Buckley Town stepped into the top-four.
Driscoll grabbed a second half hat-trick as Buckley defeated Llay Welfare 3-0.
Nick Grogan, Connor Littler and Rhys Edwards supplied the assists for man of the match Driscoll, who led Buckley to their seventh success of the season.
Buckley boss Asa Hamilton told the club’s X site: “I don’t want to be down on teams, but listen, they’re in a relegation battle.
“We were there last year. It’s hard. It’s difficult and you’ve got to throw everything on the line and, to be fair to their boys, they did.
“But, I had a feeling if we got a goal, we’d go and win the game comfortably, because we were in control.”
Mold Alex slipped from third to fifth in the standings on the back of their 2-1 defeat at home to Penrhyncoch.
Another three points looked to be on the cards for Barry Owen’s side following a Fabrizio Murtas goal midway through the first half.
However, in an amazing finish, Cameron Allen levelled with a penalty in the 90th minute and the same player popped up with the winner eight minutes into stoppage time.
Assistant boss Liam Groves told the club’s Facebook page: “Very disappointing afternoon, really. In terms of how the game went, how we prepared, we felt like we were in a good place. Recent form, obviously, having gone away and won in the Welsh Cup a couple of weeks ago.
“We felt like we were in good form approaching the game, but today, it was just not good enough.
“Not good in its entirety, really.”
Gresford Athletic suffered a 5-2 defeat during their trip to Llandudno.
Eddie Maurice-Jones’ side twice had the lead in a promising first half.
Toby Gallagher-Keenan broke the deadlock in the 13th minute and Charley Edge netted from the penalty spot a quarter-of-an-hour later.
Llandudno twice hit back through Adam Stephens to make sure it was 2-2 at the break.
The second half belonged to the hosts, with Mark Cadwallader (2) and Alex Boss sealing the deal.
