LEAGUE ONE highfliers Wrexham were knocked out of the FA Cup by League Two outfit Harrogate Town for the second time in four seasons after losing 1-0 at Wetherby Road.
Phil Parkinson's side suffered a 2-1 defeat to Harrogate in the first round in November 2021 and exited the competition at the same stage on their return to north Yorkshire.
Having reached the fourth round in each of the last two seasons since that first cup defeat to Simon Weaver's side, Wrexham won't enjoy a cup run this term and are left to concentrate on the league.
The Reds are third in League One, four points behind leaders Birmingham City, and will hope to remain in the hunt for an unprecedented third promotion in a row.
Parkinson made three changes from the side that drew 2-2 at Charlton Athletic in the last league game eight days earlier.
Eoghan O'Connell replaced Dan Scarr in the heart of defence while Sebastian Revan came in at left wing-back for James McClean who has started every league game this season.
The other change was in midfield where Andy Cannon took over from Elliot Lee.
Wrexham went straight at Harrogate and Ollie Palmer's header from Max Cleworth's ball into the box was well held by stopper James Belshaw in the third minute.
Belshaw made an even better save moment later when Ollie Rathbone teed up Paul Mullin whose low shot was kept out by the keeper.
Mullin fired wide with another opportunity and the Reds' striker - captain for the day with McClean on the bench - also cleared the bar following Revan's run into the area.
However, Harrogate took the lead after 24 minutes with their first chance of the game.
Stephen Duke-McKenna sent in a corner and an unmarked Jack Muldoon found the back of the net with a glancing header.
Wrexham went straight back on the attack and Palmer played the ball out to Ryan Barnett but his cross was headed wide by the striker.
Harrogate responded with Jasper Moon's header from Duke-McKenna's free-kick easily saved by Okonkwo while Palmer's effort at the other end was blocked by a defender after he was set-up by Revan, and it remained 1-0 at the break.
Wrexham made a lively start to the second half and Barnett couldn't keep his shot down.
The Reds then had their best chance of the game when they broke forward in numbers following a Harrogate corner, with Barnett feeding Dobson, but the midfielder was denied by Belshaw.
Parkinson made a treble change on 59 minutes with Lee, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and McClean coming on for Rathbone, Palmer and Revan.
Bodvarsson cleared the bar with his shot immediately after entering the action and McClean headed wide from Barnett's cross following a decent move.
With Wrexham piling the pressure on, Bodvarsson brought a save out of Belshaw following Cannon's knock down before Mo Faal replaced Tom O'Connor.
Faal headed wide from Barnett's cross and the striker also had a goal ruled out for offside with five minutes remaining after finding the net with a header.
Wrexham continued to press but the equaliser never came and Harrogate are into the hat for the second round draw.
