STEVE DALE wants his Wrexham side to start looking up as the Adran Premier season continues with a big Sunday showdown.
The Reds moved five points clear of the relegation zone with a comfortable 3-0 triumph over Cardiff Met last time out and a third win of the campaign at home to Briton Ferry Llansawel on Sunday will renew Wrexham’s top-four hopes.
Wrexham trail fourth-placed Barry by five points, while it’s so close at the top of the standings with just three points separating leaders Cardiff City from Swansea, in fifth.
Manager Dale told the club’s YouTube channel: “We’re already playing catch-up on the top-four and it’s important that we get a run together now and build that momentum.
“You know, I’ve said to the girls, enjoy the feeling now, but it’s really important we back it up and obviously train hard this week, and get the three points next weekend, because we don’t want to be sitting at this end of the table.
“We want to be competing at the top end and it’s really important that we put a run together and keep building on the performances and, hopefully, the results will take care of themselves going forward.”
Third-placed Briton Ferry Llansawel are the only unbeaten side in the division and Dale admits his side was bullied in a 3-0 loss to the newly-promoted side earlier in the campaign.
“The girls are going to have to be up for it, because credit to Briton Ferry, they’ve started well,” added Dale, who saw Rosie Hughes, Olivia Fuller and Abbie Iddenden score last Sunday.
“You know, they bullied us at their place and rightly deserved to get the three points, and it’s important now that we address what went wrong in that game.
“If we can play to the level that we have (on Sunday) in terms of controlling the game and try and sort of frustrate them by moving the ball quickly and create those chances, then hopefully that’ll go in our favour and we’ll get the three points again.”
Cardiff City have home advantage against Barry, while second-placed The New Saints head to basement side Aberystwyth. Swansea City host Cardiff Met in the top-flight other contest.
Connah’s Quay Nomads will be looking to continue their promising start to the Adran North League campaign.
Jordan Parry’s side, who have picked up a maximum six points from their opening two contests, will head to Rhyl 1879 for their next match.
“There’s no pressure on these girls to win the league,” stressed Parry.
“We want to compete and we’re just keeping our feet on the ground.”
Flint Town United, still seeking a first league triumph since promotion, have home advantage versus NFA.
Elsewhere, leaders Llandudno travel to Bangor and Llanfair United welcome Y Felinheli.
Turning to the North East Wales League, unbeaten Airbus are at home to Welshpool, while Coedpoeth head to Northop Hall.
Other fixture: Berriew v Denbigh.
