RICKY EVANS is calling on Wrexham fans who are not getting their football fix to head down to Stansty Park tomorrow and back his Lex XI boys in the Welsh Trophy.
Lex are one of two North East Wales League sides hoping home advantage proves crucial with Mynydd Isa also eyeing up a place in the last-16.
Lex host Llanidloes Town and Evans, the brother of former Wrexham and Wales defender Steve, said: “We’re a bit out in the sticks here at Stansty but it would be great to get a decent crowd there.
“Wrexham aren’t playing until Sunday so you’d hope a few may want to come and watch us.
“And what they’ll see is a Lex side who will work their socks off.
“We’ve been doing well this season and to get through to the last-16 would be brilliant for us.
“If we put in the effort we have done this season then we’ve got a chance
“All the lads will put it all in - I’m sure of that - because the team spirit is great.
“There’s a real togetherness and I’d also like to mention Merv Thomas and Scott Evans, who have been a great help to me this season.”
Top scorer Harry Massey will be a key man tomorrow while Kian Davies is on a run of nine goals in his last five games.
Lex lead the way in the Premier Division while Mynydd Isa aren’t far behind them.
They host south Wales outfit West End tomorrow and James Hollyoak, the club’s head of senior football, said: “It’s another big game for the club.
“We don’t know much about them but they are also in a good run of form so we are expecting a very tough game.
“We will prepare right as we do for every game and hopefully we can continue our good form and progress into the next round of the competition.
“We welcome a few lads back who missed last week’s game.”
Heading in the opposite direction are Connah’s Quay Town and Brickfield Rangers.
“We leave Connah’s Quay at 7.30am and these are the types of draws you want at this level,” said Town boss Gavin Parry, whose side face Swansea-based St Josephs.
“We have a strong squad to pick from and everyone loves a good coach trip to somewhere new. We’re all really looking forward to it.”
Parry had led his side to second place in the Ardal North West League with ex-Wrexham and Chester striker Jamie Reed forging a good partnership with top scorer Pascal Gomez.
Brickfield are in the capital to take on Cardiff Draconians and boss Gareth Wilson said: “We’re really looking forward to game.
“We have a few injuries and unavailability but we’ll give it our best shot.”
Llanuwchllyn - the other Ardal North East League side left in the last-32 of the competition - have also been drawn away at Penlan but after knocking Newtown out of the Welsh Cup last month, they’ll be in confident mood.
Meilir Williams will be their main dangerman, having already netted 23 goals this season.
Bethesda Athletic - the other tier four team from the north - have been drawn at home to Pwllheli.
Llanrwst United host Nantlle Vale, Trearddur Bay welcome Ynyshir Albions and Bow Street go to Llannefydd.
Other ties: Bridgend Street v Penygraig Utd; Cwmaman v Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant; Giants Grave v Canton; Penydarren v Abercarn Utd; Risca Utd v Goytre; Treowen Stars v Cardiff Corinthians; Llangeinor v Port Talbot Town.
