ASA HAMILTON is hoping last weekend’s dramatic victory can bolster the momentum for Buckley Town.
Liam Driscoll’s strike 12 minutes into stoppage time secured a terrific 4-3 win over Flint Mountain last time out and next up is tomorrow’s home clash with Llay Welfare.
Manager Hamilton told the club’s Facebook page: “Winning like that changes momentum. It changes the way people think. It changes the way my players think.”
Meanwhile, new Llay boss Jord Scott says he will be learning plenty from the role.
He told Cymru Sport: “This new role, I’ll be learning loads... learning on the job, really.
“Obviously got a great group of lads here and I think what was important is they took the news well.
“The club have been fantastic with me, here. Obviously, I’ve got (Mike) Gadie and Haggis (Steve Halliwell) still involved, which is important and my cousin Ben’s the goalkeeping coach and one of the lads, Chris Hibbert’s, going to come on the coaching staff as a player-coach.
“So, it’s just about having people round you that can give you good advice and they can help you along the way.”
Defending champions Holywell Town will be looking to return to form as they host Ruthin Town tomorrow.
An 8-3 defeat to leaders Airbus stung the Wellmen last time out and boss Johnny Haseldin said: “Friday was a big blow in terms of how well we have been doing.
“You have got to own your performance and be accountable for your own performances.
“Airbus were really good on the night. Our mistakes were punished.
“The performance didn’t get anywhere near the levels we have reached over the last couple of years.
“Nothing seems to be going right at the minute.
“We’ve got to keep being honest and make sure we don’t lose confidence. It will hurt everyone.”
More of the same will be the message to George Peers this evening. The striker grabbed four goals in the big win over Holywell and Mark Allen’s league leaders will be seeking another three-point haul at home to Bangor 1876.
Asked if the Holywell win is up there with one of the best performances he’s seen from the side, Allen said: “Yes, I think it is.
“I was very pleased with how we performed versus TNS, only losing 1-0, but I think when a team comes who were fully deserving champions last season and I’ve got a lot of respect for their players and manager.”
Key to firing Airbus to the top is the fact the side has scored 48 goals in just 12 games.
“We’ve had Danny (Warren) come in and he’s scored on a consistent basis,” added Allen.
“James Davies, George Peers and Sam Baker as well and we’ve got a few on twos and threes.
“To mix it around like we are is really important.”
Meanwhile, a tough test awaits Flint Mountain as they look to bounce back from their last-gasp loss to Buckley.
Aden Shannon’s side head to second-placed Colwyn Bay this evening.
Caersws will have home advantage against Prestatyn Town tomorrow, while Denbigh Town pay a visit to Guilsfield.
