WREXHAM have continued to enjoy the magic of the FA Cup under Phil Parkinson but he admits his side "owe" Harrogate Town following a rare off-day in the competition.

The Reds reached the fourth round in each of the last two seasons - there was a huge upset against Championship outfit Coventry City to celebrate in 2022-23 - and they gave higher level opponents Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers a run for their money before bowing out.

Prior to those superb cup runs, Wrexham - then in the National League - suffered a 2-1 defeat to League Two outfit Harrogate in the first round in November 2021 during Parkinson's first campaign in The Racecourse hotseat.

Last forward three years and the Reds, flying high in League One, come up against Simon Weaver's side once again at the same stage of the competition.

Parkinson won't be taking the Sulphurites lightly but making amends for that loss is the aim on Sunday.

"The FA Cup is special for the club," he said. "We have got a lot of history in the FA Cup and a lot of great memories have been made over the years.

"Since I've been here, we have had some good games in the FA Cup and we have enjoyed those.

"You always want those journeys to be longer but we lost to good teams in the end.

"I always feel the FA Cup is a nice break from the league to kind of refresh everybody away from league football.

"Of course we will be taking it seriously and we will be looking to reward our travelling supporters again.

"Harrogate are a tough team to play against. They have got a real identity of work ethic as you saw when we played them here in the league last season.

"They can be a tough nut to crack and credit to Simon Weaver, he has instilled a real gritty determination about them over the years so we know what we are going into.

"We went there a few years ago in the FA Cup and we certainly owe them one this time around."
