GRESFORD ATHLETIC had to be satisfied with a point from their home clash with Penrhyncoch.

Eddie Maurice-Jones’ side had the lead until the final 10 minutes and Gresford did have chances to confirm their fourth league win of the campaign.

Little in the way of opportunities arrived in the first half, with Joe Nelson and Toby Gallagher-Keenan narrowly off target with their attempts.

It was a great start to the second half for Gresford, who got their noses in front in the 50th minute.

Charlie Mann found Simon Smith and he curled the ball into the top corner of the net.

There were saves from respective goalkeepers Lewis Dutton and Leigh Jenkins as the match developed, while Josh Watkin was off target with two efforts to stretch the lead.

Penrhyncoch levelled with nine minutes remaining through substitute Geoff Kellaway.

At the other end, Ilan ap Gareth’s volley was saved by Jenkins and the visiting keeper did well in the last minute as he denied Dominic Deacon.

After the Friday frenzy, goals were thin on the ground the following day.

Caersws and Bangor 1876 played out a 0-0 draw during their meeting.

Meanwhile, Ruthin Town got the better of Guilsfield 2-0.

Jake Hughes-Hampson handed Dave Evans’ side the lead in the 28th minute and the three points were secured by a stoppage time strike from Liam Evans.
