WREXHAM conceded a last-gasp equaliser as Charlton Athletic hit back to draw 2-2 at The Valley in League One.
It looked like the Reds were heading for victory when Andy Cannon put them 2-1 up just a minute after coming on as substitute in the second half but the Addicks levelled deep into stoppage time.
Phil Parkinson's side had taken the lead in the opening period when Tom O'Connor's free-kick was deflected into the net but Charlton equalised before the interval.
Wrexham are now third in the table.
Parkinson made two changes from the side that started Tuesday's 0-0 draw at home to Huddersfield Town.
Centre-back Max Cleworth made a surprise return to the Reds defence after missing only four league games having damaged ankle ligaments in the stalemate at Leyton Orient on September 28, coming into the team for Eoghan O'Connell.
The other change was in midfield with Ollie Rathbone preferred to Cannon who, along with O'Connell, dropped to the substitutes bench.
Parkinson completed two new signings - both free agents - on Friday to cover for injuries and players walking a disciplinary tightrope and midfielder Matty James was named on the bench but there was no place in the squad for striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson.
The first chance fell to Charlton but Luke Berry's free-kick from just outside the area landed wide.
Despite the home side seeing a lot more of the ball, Wrexham went ahead in the 16th minute.
Ryan Barnett won a free-kick deep in the Charlton half which was delivered by O'Connor and the ball was adjudged to have been turned into his own net by Conor Coventry with goalkeeper Will Mannion unable to keep it out.
Charlton regrouped and Coventry's shot took a deflection off George Dobson and was brilliantly turned behind by Arthur Okonkwo for a corner.
Rathbone made a vital clearance off the line from the resulting flag-kick but Charlton immediately levelled after 23rd minutes.
The ball was put back into the area by Josh Edwards and Macauley Gillesphey scored with a looping header.
Wrexham almost reclaimed the lead when Ollie Palmer dummied Barnett's low cross and Elliot Lee rattled the crossbar with a first time strike.
Paul Mullin was unable to keep a free-kick down while at the other end, Berry's deflected shot was saved by Okonkwo and it remained all-square at the break.
Charlton were quick out of the blocks at the start of the second half and a superb save with his leg by Okonkwo denied Tyreece Campbell who cut inside Barnett.
Rathbone fired wide for Wrexham and the midfielder saw another low drive palmed away by Mannion.
Matty Godden was only just off target for Charlton while Terry Taylor's free-kick was tipped over by Okonkwo.
However, Wrexham went 2-1 up on 71 minutes.
George Dobson slid a pass into the box and although Cannon's cross was cut out, the ball rebounded to the midfielder and he slotted past Mannion.
Charlton pushed for an equaliser and Alex Mitchell's volley following a corner was well saved by Okonkwo.
And the Addicks levelled deep into stoppage time through Gooden's penalty after Miles Leaburn's header from a a free-kick was adjudged to have been handled by Cleworth.
