CUP clashes take centre stage for clubs this weekend.

Tomorrow sees second round action in the Welsh Division One Cup and Wrexham are looking to maintain their interest in the competition.

Wrexham, who defeated COBRA 31-26 in the first round earlier this month, will have home advantage against Ruthin.

It was a 21-7 defeat away to Bala in the league last time out for Wrexham and skipper Jack Harrison said: “This week in the cup gives us a week of trying to correct our mistakes from last weekend. We’re not far off in games, but silly errors and too many penalties are gifting sides chances against us.

“Ruthin will be a tough proposition, they always are, so we need to be ready to front up and be physical.

“If we can tidy up on our own mistakes and look to keep the ball a bit better then hopefully we will get some rewards from that.”

It was a dramatic contest in the first round, with Rhys Davies’ late try confirming Wrexham’s triumph. That was his second try of the day, with Jack Partington, Lloyd Roberts and Jacob Hughes also crossing the whitewash.

Caernarfon, conquerors of Mold in the first round, will travel to Gwynedd rivals Bethesda, while Division One North leaders Nant Conwy go to Bala.

The other tie sees Denbigh at home to Llangefni.

In the Division Five Cup, Mold Athletic have home advantage for their encounter with Bethesda Athletic.

Bro Ffestiniog are on their travels to COBRA Athletic, Llangefni Athletic entertain Bangor and Menai Bridge host Pwllheli Athletic.

In the Division Three Cup, there are home ties for Newtown and Rhyl & District, versus Colwyn Bay and Nant Conwy Athletic respectively.

Dolgellau pay a visit to Abergele and Machynlleth welcome Caernarfon Athletic.

RGC will be eager to break their away day duck in Super Rugby Cymru tomorrow.

Without a triumph on their travels so far this season, RGC will be looking to put this right as they head to Newport, who are third in the standings.

Other fixtures: Aberavon v Llandovery; Carmarthen Quins v Ebbw Vale; Cardiff v Bridgend.
