THINGS are looking up on the pitch for Connah’s Quay Nomads and there’s also stability behind the scenes with the first team squad.

Nomads, who have kept four clean sheets on the bounce during a promising run in the Cymru Premier League, are preparing for Sunday’s home showdown with basement side Briton Ferry Llansawel.

Meanwhile, Connah’s Quay have confirmed the first team staff to work alongside head coach Billy Paynter.

It was something that was touched on by Paynter upon his appointment to the role and he told the club’s YouTube channel: “I like to challenge myself as a coach and as a manager.

“Spoken to the staff behind the scenes. It’s got that really community feel and, again, it’s an opportunity to progress.”

Jonathan Hill-Dunt, who joined the club from Gresford Athletic during the summer, is Nomads’ assistant coach and goalkeeper coach. Hill-Dunt, who won the Welsh Cup with Prestatyn Town in 2013, is a UEFA A licence holder and an FAW coach educator.

Captain John Disney (pictured) will combine playing with the role of assistant coach. Disney has made over 260 competitive appearance for the Nomads’ first team, winning the Cymru Premier League and the Welsh League Cup, in addition to last season skippering the team to Welsh Cup final glory.

He recently gained his UEFA A licence qualification and Disney has been working with the club’s U18 and development sides over the last two seasons.

Jon Rushton, who has made more than 80 competitive appearances for the club, is taking his first steps into goalkeeper coaching in his new role as assistant first team goalkeeper coach.

Kyle Taylor is the first team sports scientist, with Anthony Gomez the first team analyst. This is Gomez’s third full season at Nomads as head of the club’s analysis department, having been at the club for a number of years within the academy set-up.

Paloma Gioia will continue in her role as head of medical and this is her fifth season within the first team set-up.

The New Saints, who were in European action last night, return to league action with Sunday’s trip to Aberystwyth. Tomorrow, leaders Penybont hosts Bala Town and Caernarfon go to Haverfordwest, while Cardiff Met welcome Newtown this evening.
