THINGS haven’t been going the way of Llay Welfare in their debut season in the second tier of Welsh football.

Decisions have gone against them in both league and cup encounters while they have also been handed a three-point deduction - pending an appeal - after breaking Football Association of Wales rules on player eligibility.

“We have been on the end of some poor decisions lately - Llandudno away and Bangor last Saturday,” said boss Phil Hudson ahead of tomorrow’s home clash with Mold Alex.

“The late decision at Llandudno was horrendous for their goal; a blatant handball cost us a point and the penalty decision at Bangor. We’ve watched it back and it’s comfortably outside the area and the ref has given a penalty.

“I’ve been in football a long time and big decisions usually even themselves out but at the moment, I can’t recall one going in our favour.

“Our performances have been good and if we carry on playing how we have been, the results will come.

“And if everyone brings their A game tomorrow, then we’re well worthy of getting a result.

“Mold are having a fantastic season. They have a certain style of play and we’ll have to deal with that.”

Mold keeper Joseph Smith has been pleased with how the season’s gone so far, but he admits there’s still a long way to go.

Smith told the club’s X site: “It’s been really good so far. I’m really enjoying it.

“We’ve had a good start, but obviously we haven’t done anything yet. It’s only early days, October, a long way to go and hopefully pick up a few more wins and see how we get on.”

Six wins from their opening 11 games sees Mold in fifth place in the table and Smith added: “Personal goals, obviously the goalkeeper, keep as many clean sheets, help the team out as much as I can.

“Clean sheets win games, draw games, so points on the board. So, that’s the main aim, hopefully.”

Flint Mountain will be refreshed after two weeks off as they host Buckley Town tonight.

“It’s going to be tough as Buckley are a decent outfit,” said Mountain manager Aden Shannon, whose side’s last match was a fine 2-1 win at reigning champions Holywell Town.

“If we can match their work ethic and attitude we should be fine

“It’s going to be an entertaining game and one we are all looking forward to as a group but we have to be at our best

“The lads have set standards that we expect over the last few weeks but it’s important we don’t become complacent.”

Buckley boss Asa Hamilton (pictured right) is anticipating a battle and he’s hoping to see additional confidence from his players.

Hamilton, who saw his side agonisingly lose out on penalties to Colwyn Bay in the Welsh Cup last time out, told the club’s Facebook page: “Looking forward to it. It will be another game of battling. They’re going to be a battling team like us.

“They’ve got some good players... and it will be nice to see how my boys do next week, because I think there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be full of confidence now and that’s what we’ve got to be.

“We’ve got to be confident every single game now.”
