HUDDERSFIELD TOWN head coach Michael Duff says tonight's game with Wrexham at The Racecourse will be a "real challenge" for his side.

The Terriers, who were relegated from the Championship last season, come up against Phil Parkinson's back-to-back promotion winners who are flying high in League One.

Saturday's 1-0 win at Rotherham keeps the Reds second in the table, two points behind leaders Birmingham City, but Duff is confident sixth placed Huddersfield can pick up a positive result in North Wales.

“Two leagues separated the two teams last year, but clearly they’re on an upward trajectory, and have been for a long time,” Duff told Yorkshire Live.

“When I was at Cheltenham, I lost my captain to [them] (Ben Tozer) when they were in the Conference. That’s when the project was really starting, and they’ve got unbelievable momentum.

“You talk about building a relationship with the supporters, well they have that. They get them through in tough moments, and they’re riding the crest of a wave. It’ll be noisy, and we’ll have to go and deliver a performance if we want to get anything out of the game.

“In terms of stature of club, we’re a bigger club than them, I don’t think that’s being disrespectful, but the one thing they’ve got is momentum and confidence. They’re hard things [to build], we’ve found that ourselves in this run that we’ve been in.

“It’s decision making through a lack of confidence, and a lack of trust in each other almost. They’ve got total trust in each other because of the journey that they’ve been on.

“It’s a brilliant story, but they haven’t become world beaters. We need to go there with an arrogance of ‘we are a big team in this league’, and go and deliver that, and that’s part of the expectation.

“It’s going to be a real challenge, because we’ve not only got to beat 11, 15, 16 good players, but you’ve got to beat the crowd as well. You’ve got to try and silence them and keep them quiet.

“They’re five from five at home this year, so if we can be the first team [to take points off them there], that will be a marker, and hopefully we can go and do it, knowing how difficult it will be, but it will give our lads a shot in the arm as well if we can get the result.”
