IF it’s bags of points you’re after, look no further than Caernarfon’s home showdowns with Mold!

Earlier this month, the Gwynedd side triumphed 59-29 when the teams met in the Welsh Division One Cup.

High-flying Caernarfon, looking for their sixth win out of six, had home advantage once more as the teams met in Division One North and Mold did manage to secure a try bonus point from their 63-32 defeat.

Tries came from Iwan Hughes (2), Sean Hughes (2) and Scott Jones, while Seth Geary kicked seven points from a penalty and two conversions.

Wrexham remain in the bottom two following their 21-7 loss at Bala.

Two converted tries had the hosts 14-0 to the good by the time the half-time whistle was sounded.

A third converted try with four minutes to go had Bala in sight of a bonus point, but it was Wrexham who finished the match in good fashion.

Sam Jones grabbed a 78th minute try for the away side, which was converted by Jacob Hughes.

Leaders Nant Conwy are still to drop a point this season and they bagged their sixth bonus point success of the campaign courtesy of a 51-18 triumph against Bethesda.

Ruthin lost out 29-22 in a crucial clash at Llandudno, while COBRA got the better of Denbigh 35-17 and basement side Llangefni were beaten 37-17 at Pwllheli.

Welshpool maintained their perfect record at the head of Division Two North on the back of their 50-14 success at Abergele.

Second-placed Colwyn Bay got the better of Caernarfon Athletic 42-7, Nant Conwy Athletic lost out 28-7 at Machynlleth and Rhyl & District eased to a 40-15 triumph over Dolgellau.

Wrexham Athletic maintained their spot at the head of the Division Three North East rankings as they defeated Llangollen-based Bro Gwernant 25-17.

There were away day triumphs for Mold Athletic and Flint. Mold secured their second success of the season in a 30-22 verdict at Ruthin Athletic and Flint beat Rhosllanerchrugog 31-10.

RGC made it three home Super Rugby Cymru victories on the bounce with their 29-24 outcome against Carmarthen Quins.

In front of a crowd of more than 900 spectators, RGC’s bright start saw an early penalty from Billy McBryde.

McBryde also added the extras to Tal Taylor’s try as the hosts stretched their advantage, but two converted scores saw Quins in the lead by half-time.

A try by McBryde, which he converted himself, saw the lead change hands, while further scores from Sam Stoddard and Delwyn Jones made sure RGC kept their noses in front.

RGC director of rugby Josh Leach told the club’s website: “Good to be back at home, in front of a crowd that has been good in numbers this season, and pleased to get our third home win on the bounce.

“I thought we started well, fell off in the middle and then picked it up. I am pleased with the defensive performance but we just gave the ball away far too easily.

“At half-time, we simplified things a bit and it worked well as it showed with the tries we created.

“We knew Quins would come at us in the last five minutes, but we dealt with that pretty well to see out the game.”

Other results: Bridgend 18 Ebbw Vale 34; Cardiff 31 Aberavon 14; Pontypool 17 Newport 14; Llandovery 42 Swansea 13.
