PAUL MULLIN is a life-long Liverpool supporter but the prolific striker says he would be following Wrexham around the country if he called time on his playing career.

The 29-year-old has been a revelation since arriving at The Racecourse from Cambridge United in the summer of 2021, helping Phil Parkinson's side clinch back-to-back promotions.

After undergoing spinal surgery in the summer to correct a long-term lower-back and hamstring issue, meaning he missed the start of the League One campaign, Mullin has had to bide his time but he was back in the side at Rotherham United on Saturday in place of top scorer Jack Marriott, who is facing a long lay-off after suffering a broken leg in training last Thursday,.

It was just his second league start of the season and Mullin scored after only 16 seconds, taking his tally to 108 goals for Wrexham to secure a 1-0 win which keeps the Reds second in the table.

The 29-year-old re-affirmed his affection for the club where he has legendary status.

"Our game-plan was to come and start fast," said Mullin. "No-one expected it to be that fast and it was a brilliant start for us but we had to grind out the rest of the performance.

"I wanted to help the team as much as I can, whether that is from on the bench or starting the game.

"I have been here long enough now and Wrexham has become part of me.

"I feel really attached to this club, I love it.

"I used to go home and away and watch Liverpool all over the world but if my career finished tomorrow, that would change.

"I would be going to watch Wrexham everywhere. I absolutely love the place for everything it has given me and the support the fans have given me so I always want to do well."

Wrexham, who sit two points behind leaders Birmingham City, are back in action against Huddersfield Town at The Racecourse tonight.

Mullin began his career with The Terriers but is looking to get one over his former club.

"My first professional contract was at Huddersfield and I had a good couple of years there which was really enjoyable," he added.

"I have never played against them before so hopefully I come back to haunt them on Tuesday."
