HOLYWELL TOWN’S hopes were thwarted by a penalty shootout loss at home to Ruthin Town.
Johnny Haseldin’s Wellmen battled back from conceding an early goal as it finished 1-1, before Ruthin won the shootout 5-4. Llyr Morris’ opener was cancelled out by Jake Cooke.
Llanuwchllyn undoubtedly caused the biggest shock of the second round knocking out Newtown 5-3 on penalties.
The tie ended goal-less as Cymru Premier League Newtown had keeper Alex Swindell and Callum Roberts red carded at their Ardal North East League hosts.
Keeper Rob Dascalu saved one of Newtown’s spot-kicks with Meilir Williams, Ceri James, Dan Dascalu, Joe Vaughan and Gwydion Ifan all scoring theirs.
