HISTORY-MAKERS from a decade ago will be given a warm welcome at Holywell Town tomorrow.

The Wellmen host Cymru North rivals Ruthin Town and the occasion will see Holywell’s Welsh Cup heroes from 2013-14 back at the club.

During that campaign, tier three Holywell brilliantly made it through to the semi-finals.

“The majority of the lads are going to get down,” said Holywell boss Johnny Haseldin. “If they did that run now, they would probably get a lot more credit and recognition.”

During the epic run, the Wellmen stunned top flight Newtown 3-2 and the dream was finally ended by a 3-1 loss to Aberystwyth Town in the last-four.

“We’re the only tier three team in history to get to the semi-final,” added Haseldin.

“It’s something that’s never been done before or since and it paved the way for what we did afterwards.”

Haseldin is anticipating a testing encounter tomorrow and he said: “They’re a good side. Dave Evans is doing a good job there and they have got exciting stuff going on off the pitch.

“It’s important we look after ourselves.

“We will roll our sleeves up and we know it will be a tough game and battle against Ruthin.”

Shaun and Mike Pearson are expected to be added to the Holywell squad.

Asa Hamilton is looking for his Buckley Town strikers to click ahead of a tough cup showdown tomorrow.

Hamilton and his side are all set for tomorrow’s home tie with in-form Colwyn Bay and the Buckley boss is hoping his side can pose a threat.

“I have got good strikers, but it’s just not happening for them in front of goal,” he said.

“But it will come. I probably give my strikers a bit more than I give the midfielders and defenders.

“I just see the mistakes they’re making. But we are creating chances.”

Hamilton has stressed that the future of the squad is looking extremely bright and he added: “We’re all best friends and we’re a very close unit.

“Seven-or-eight are 22, 23, 24.

“All these boys will be in their prime next year.”

The last meeting between the sides came at The Globe back in August, when Tom Creamer’s 96th minute strike handed the Seagulls a 2-1 triumph.

That result forms part of Bay’s eight-match winning sequence, with boss Michael Wilde winning the Cymru North manager of the month award for September.

“Me and Danny (Harrison) are really pleased to win that accolade and the award,” Wilde told Bay’s YouTube channel.

“But we’re not deluded. We know it’s not just about me and Danny.

“It’s about a collective effort throughout the whole football club. First and foremost, the players, they have to turn out and put the performances in and then we also need to say a big thank-you to the supporters as well.

“It’s just really, really warming to know that when the chips are down as well, we can turn to almost a 12th man and get a good reaction.”
