THE Welsh Cup takes centre stage on the football front this weekend with men’s and women’s teams all going for glory.

The romance of the cup is best portrayed by Llangollen Town’s trip to Cymru Premier League champions The New Saints tonight.

“The TNS game is special for us,” said Llangollen boss Luke Maybury, who guided his side into the top four of the Ardal North East League this season.

“Since I came on board four years ago, it’s been a tough at times, but all of the lads have stuck together and now get to face the best team in the country. We’re all buzzing.”

Cup holders Connah’s Quay Nomads, who stunned TNS in last year’s final, host Guilsfield tomorrow while Flint Town United, managed by ex-Wrexham captain Lee Fowler, welcome Gresford Athletic tonight.

The women’s search for silverware is on Sunday with Wrexham hoping to put their poor league form to one side by going through at Llanystumdwy.

Connah’s Quay Nomads have won all six games so far this season and will aim to make it seven by winning at Llandudno.
