PHIL PARKINSON has lost just three of his 14 FA Cup ties as Wrexham boss - and one of those came at the team they’ll be facing in next month’s first round tie.

The Reds were beaten 2-1 at Harrogate Town on November 6, 2021 - and Parkinson will head to the same Wetherby Road venue next month looking to right that wrong.

Parkinson’s other defeats came last season in the 4-1 fourth round exit at Blackburn Rovers and the 3-1 replay loss at Sheffield United in January 2023.

Wrexham’s record when being drawn away in the first round was boosted by last season’s 2-1 win at Mansfield Town where Sam Dalby and Paul Mullin scored.

That was the first away win as a Football League club since a 4-0 victory at Hayes in 2004 where Hector Sam, Andy Holt, Dennis Lawrence and Chris Llewellyn scored.

In Wrexham’s last 10 first round away ties as a Football League club, they’ve gone through at the first attempt just two other times in 2-0 wins at Rochdale (1997) and Kettering Town two years later.

Draws came at Hull City in 1995 and Colwyn Bay 12 months later with the Reds going on to win the Racecourse replays. The Reds were also held 1-1 at home by Kettering in 1999 before winning the replay 2-0.

The defeats came at Hereford (1-0 in 2001), Yeovil (4-1 in 2003), Port Vale (2-1 in 2005) and Peterborough (4-1 in 2007).

The non-league era didn’t give Reds’ fans much to shout about on the away day outings in the first round.

They failed to even reach the first round in 2008, 2010, 2015, 2016 and 2017 and the Covid pandemic wiped out the 2020 competition.

They did win 2-0 at Weston-super-Mare in 2018 and drew 2-2 at Cambridge in 2011 before winning the replay 2-1. The other away defeat came in a replay at Rochdale in 2019.
