ONE Wrexham player has returned to training after recovering from injury while another is making good progress,

Luke Bolton has been sidelined with a foot problem but the wing-back, yet to feature in League One this season and restricted to two starts in cup competitions, is back in the fold.

Centre-back Max Cleworth sustained ankle ligament damage in the goalless draw at Leyton Orient on September 28 and although the injury is not as bad as first feared, the 22-year-old remains on the sidelines.

However, Phil Parkinson revealed that Cleworth, a two-time winner of the Young Player of the Season award and in outstanding form so far this term before limping off at Brisbane Road, has stepped up his comeback.

"The squad is looking strong and we need everybody for the week ahead," said the Reds' boss, referring to three league games in eight days starting with Saturday's clash against Rotherham United at New York Stadium.

"Max is making good progress. He is back on the grass this week but we will know more over the next three or four days how quickly that progress is going to be.

"Luke is back in training which is great. He has had a problem with his foot but he did a lot of running last week and he has now joined in fully with the lads."

Midfielder George Evans also sustained ankle ligament damage in the 1-0 defeat at Stevenage on October 1 and Parkinson added: "George is going to be long term."

Jacob Mendy should also be back in the mix for the weekend trip to South Yorkshire.

He didn’t play a single minute of Gambia’s double header against Madagascar with Stockport County’s Ibou Touray filling the left back role for both of the African Nation’s Cup qualifiers.
