WREXHAM slumped to defeat at Barry on an amazing day in the Adran Premier League.

The story was a familiar one for the Reds, though, as they lost 1-0 to Barry and they had Erin Lovett sent off.

Barry had the first chance with Wrexham keeper Lizzie Craven making a good save to deny Lucy Attwood.

The visitors threatened via Amber Lightfoot’s dangerous delivery, with Holly Jenkins making a crucial interception.

Brooke Cairns was unsuccessful with a header from Lightfoot’s cross as Wrexham turned up the heat and there was an excellent chance to break the deadlock eight minutes from time when Abbie Iddenden found herself in the clear, but Molly Arnesen made a terrific save.

It was Barry who threatened at the start of the second half and Craven had to be at her best to deny Jasmine Turner.

Keren Allen’s effort was cleared off the line with 20 minutes remaining, prior to pivotal moments in the contest.

Defender Lovett was sent off in the 73rd minute and just three minutes later, Ellie Preece gave Barry the lead.

Leaders Swansea were humbled by The New Saints who celebrated a brilliant 5-0 win while champions Cardiff City required a stoppage time goal to salvage a 2-2 draw with Briton Ferry Llansawel.

In the battle of the bottom-two, Cardiff Met and Aberystwyth drew 0-0.

Flint Town United thrashed Y Felinheli 9-3 to make it three wins out of three in the Adran Trophy group stage.

Two goals apiece from Zoe Stopford and Jennifer Haynes had Flint well in control by half-time.

Elsi Williams did pull one back before the break, while she added another in the second period alongside Ffion Williams.

It was Flint’s day, though, with Stopford and Haynes completing their hat-tricks. Kaelyn Williams (2) and Rosie Hughes added to the tally.

Connah’s Quay Nomads defeated NFA 3-0. Patience was a virtue in the first half and after Alisha Wright had a goal chalked off for offside, Connah’s Quay got their noses in front in stoppage time.

Wright finally got her goal on the rebound after Keira Hardstaff’s effort struck the crossbar.

Second half strikes from Hannah Slack and Alisha Whitehead-Hughes sealed the deal.
