A TERRIFIC 10th triumph of the campaign was gathered by leaders Airbus from their testing trip to Mold Alex.

Goals at both ends of the pitch have been a big feature of the Wingmakers’ recent contests, but they will have been delighted with a clean sheet at Alyn Park as they made sure of a 3-0 success.

Boss Mark Allen told the Airbus X site: “We always know what to expect when we come away to Mold.

“You know, they’re a good team, physical team. We knew they were going to put it on us.

“To be fair, we weathered the storm of the first 20 minutes and then after that, we passed the ball and managed to score, which gave us a bit of a blanket zone.

“But, you know, it’s a tough place to come and not many teams come here and win. So, absolutely delighted today.”

Airbus claimed the lead after half-an-hour. Good build-up play from Sam Rickett, Jordan Evans and Jake Eyre allowed Sam Baker to provide the finish.

Baker was on hand to double the lead on the hour, while the visitors made the points safe with their third goal a quarter-of-an-hour from time.

It was Baker who supplied the assist on this occasion and Oli Lanceley found the target.

Mold assistant boss Liam Groves said: “Tough one to take given, obviously, the lead-up we had to this game.

“Putting four-or-five results together where we haven’t been beaten. Confidence was high in the camp.

“We really thought we could have got something out of the game today.

“The first half set the tone, going in one-nil down, but happy with where we were.

“The performance from the boys was really promising and going into the second half, for whatever reason, we just didn’t come out. We weren’t at the races.”

Flint Mountain are on a terrific run of form in the league and Aden Shannon’s outfit made it three wins on the bounce with an excellent 2-1 triumph at last season’s champions Holywell Town.

Mountain, now up to fourth, made light of Aaron Simpson’s second half red card to consign the Wellmen to their fourth loss of the season.

Initially, things looked to be going in Holywell’s favour and they had the lead in only the fourth minute with Danny Andrews on the scoresheet.

The visitors turned things around to take a lead into the interval. Rob Hughes’ penalty and a strike from Mike Hayes confirmed Flint Mountain’s sixth success of the season.

Second-placed Colwyn Bay maintained their winning run with a 5-0 success at Guilsfield. Gwion Dafydd scored four of the goals for Michael Wilde’s title-chasers.
