CONNAH’S QUAY NOMADS may have played out a goalless draw during their trip to Haverfordwest County, but boss Billy Paynter said it was an entertaining contest.
After a testing run in the top flight, Nomads are now two matches without defeat on the back of the stalemate verses the Bluebirds.
Manager Paynter told S4C’s Sgorio: “Yeah, happy. I thought it was an entertaining game, certainly for a nil-nil.
“I think both teams would be happy with the draw. Both teams did have opportunities.”
Connah’s Quay went close to breaking the deadlock as Ben Maher, on his first league start of the season, saw his attempt strike the Haverfordwest post.
Nomads’ keeper George Ratcliffe was in good form on the day, saving from Kyle McCarthy’s header, while he comfortably dealt with other long-range efforts as the visitors made sure of back-to-back clean sheets for the first time this season.
Connah’s Quay remain six points adrift of the top-six as they prepare for Tuesday’s trip to Maes Tegid to take on Bala Town, who are in seventh spot.
The New Saints recovered from their midweek defeat versus Caernarfon Town with a 3-0 triumph over Cardiff Met.
Danny Davies, Aramide Jay Oteh and an own goal made sure of victory for Craig Harrison’s side.
