WHAT a difference a few seconds make!

Flint Town United were on the verge of a 3-1 defeat at home to Bala Town when Joe Malkin and Nathan Burke spurned stoppage time opportunities.

The Silkmen made the most of this just moments later when Ben Hughes netted from 12 yards to confirm an exciting 3-3 draw.

Hughes told S4C’s Sgorio: “I think Flo (Yonsian) has got the ball. He’s played it into Harry Owen and I don’t know what he’s doing up there!

“He’s running all the way up and I’ve just seen the ball come to my feet and I’ve just tapped it in.

“I couldn’t believe my luck, really.”

Flint had the better of the first half and they deservedly took a lead into the interval.

On 35 minutes, Yonsian’s shot was deflected in by Sidi Fofana to hand Lee Fowler’s side the advantage.

However, Bala enjoyed a terrific start to the second half to put themselves in the box seat.

Harry Owen fouled Hussein Muhasseb in the box for a penalty to be awarded and the Bala player picked himself up to score from the spot.

Then, five minutes later, it was 2-1 to the Lakesiders as Osebi Abadaki smashed the ball into the roof of the net.

As the hosts sought a way back into the contest, substitute Harley Brindley-Peagram forced a save from Bala keeper Joel Torrance, while Luke Mariette snatched at a chance and fired over the crossbar.

Then came the dramatic stoppage time spell as Flint made it two games undefeated in the top flight.

Asked if it felt like a defeat, Bala boss Colin Caton admitted: “Yeah, it does really, to concede last minute. It’s crucial.

“Big moments in games, Joe Malkin goes through and he should slot it, really and then, you know, with a couple of seconds to go, Eddie Clarke gets caught in possession, they go the other end of the field.

“But Eddie shouldn’t be allowed to give the ball away where he did in their half and then they cross it and score. But, just on the whole, we weren’t good enough first half.

“Second half, I thought we’ve got to bury them. We should have scored three and four and you don’t, and then when it’s 2-1, they go and equalise late on.”

Leaders Penybont eased to a 3-0 verdict during their trip to basement side Aberystwyth Town.

Owen Pritchard, Chris Venables and Nathan Wood found the target for Rhys Griffiths’ high-flyers.

Newtown secured a 2-1 outcome at Caernarfon Town courtesy of Josh Lock and Callum Roberts. Louis Lloyd replied from the penalty spot in the second half.

Elsewhere, Barry defeated Briton Ferry Llansawel 3-1.
