BUCKLEY’S Tracy Rogers took a superb victory in the Chester Metric Marathon, more than six minutes ahead of her nearest rival in a time of 1-41.55.

Jane Doughton was also victorious in the FV50 category in a time of 2-01.39. In the men’s race, Ricky Challinor was second overall in a outstanding 1-32.15.

Nine of Buckley’s runners took part in the full marathon, with Anthony Davidson completing it in a fantastic time of 3-03.16, ahead of Caroline Hardie (3-11.12), Matthew Wilkins (3-12.39), Simon Mara (3-13.52), Andrew Peers (3-29.54), John Fauset (3-33.05), Adam Williams (4-05.54), Rob Davies (5-03.24) and Trudi Parry (5-07.04).

Matthew Williams (150th in 2-12.32) was the leading Wrexham racer in the metric marathon, ahead of Simon Williams (592nd in 2-44.46), while Ryan Davis, representing Welsh Masters, was 174th in 2-54.22 in the marathon.

Max Dowell (1-47.06) and Ryan Johnson-Wilcock (1-54.29) were the leading Deestriders in the metric marathon.

This season’s North Wales Cross Country League began on Saturday at Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay.

Wrexham AAC’s leading man was Joel Gomes, who clocked 30.44 for 19th spot, ahead of Ally Hughes (39th in 33.20), Gareth Chaloner (47th in 33.45), James Miles (58th in 34.30), Tony Forster (82nd in 36.27) and Gary Norgrove (85th in 36.42).

Wrexham finished top of Division Two, while Buckley’s teams made a solid start to the season with the senior men finishing fourth in Division One, the masters men seventh and the O65s fifth.

The senior women were second in Division Two, with the masters team third.

Amanda Bailey (63rd in 23.07) spear-headed the effort for Wrexham’s women, who were 13th in Division Two. Other team members were Sarah Grimshaw (117th in 27.10) and Alex Edwards (128th in 28.31).

Christine Cammillare (22.43) led the Deestriders women and she was supported by Jane Blackwell (32.54), Fiona Robinson (33.40) and Beverley Goodson (35.32).

In the U15 boys’ race, Wrexham’s Jack Collings (seventh in 15.13) and Harry Simcock (ninth in 15.25) competed, while Evie Hughes (10th in 13.38) and Megan Hatfield (16th in 15.27) raced the U15 girls’ event.

Deestrider Angela Deeley produced a personal best of 3-31 at the Lisbon marathon, where she was joined by Matt Davies 3-32, while clubmate Phil Bryan achieved 1-06.23 in the Bangor 10k.

Wrexham’s John Davies clocked 1-27.31 for 18th place in the Aintree half-marathon, while Connor Rogers (22nd in 14.59.2) competed in the Linlithgow 5k.
